Musings [473 words]

July comes to a close.

As I stepped outside this morning it was cool, an early fall kind of cool. And it felt tremendous. I was outside in my new hoodie from Bea and everything felt well within my soul – alive, relaxed, present, rested, and cool, after a series of hot.

For the last five mornings I was away from Marquette for sunrise, and out of Michigan. This makes for the longest stretch of sunrises outside of Marquette. I returned to McCarty’s Cove to seek the familiar, like seeing an hold friend, where I’ve spent so many sunrises this summer.

Yesterday was the earliest sunrise of this project. But it feels no different, sunrise is sunrise, I’ve been getting up at the same time the entire year. It’s the human time system that moves around the sunrise, not the other way around. Anyhow… I returned to Marquette and was shocked by a 6:28AM sunrise this morning. I nearly got eight full hours of sleep, which is exciting. However, I’m a little saddened with the decreasing length of morning, which I now define as the time between sunrise and 10AM (when the UPSCo shop opens).

July has felt like a fully complete month, in a way that so few months ever ever achive. It was full of incredible human interactions, new personal feats, successful projects, excitement for ████████ ███ ███ ███ ████ ███ ████, intense love as well as intense sadness, and I was fully present for it all and didn’t skip a beat.

I don’t know if it’s the sunrise, or just a temporary high, but I’m in a place far removed from where I was in January. I feel anew.

Seven of twelve months complete and right now I am increidbly happy and fulfilled.

Fuel more Sunrises

There is plenty more to come from Year of the Sunrise. You can always add a cup of coffee to keep me going strong in the mornings, or a tank of gas to get me to some new places, as the sun keeps rising.
