Today will be my seventh consecutive year spending 4th of July on Mackinac Island. It's certainly not something I would have predicted years ago when I first competed in the amateur division of the Mackinac Island Stone Skipping Tournament. There are countless other things I'd like to also be doing on the 4th, but gosh darnit, I'm going to win the professional division one of these years.
However, this whole sunrise thing started from another tradition, one I'm considering killing because I started to put tradition before people, and for the sake of what? I'm not saying Mackinac is there yet, but one year it could be.
And that's all I've got to say for now.
