Musings

Some people find success through skill. But any success I’ve had through my silly little projects, have come through brute force. The ideas are all relatively simple, they can’t be that unique to what anybody else thinks. And my skill to make them happens lacks tremendously compared to the skills of my peers. But through brute force, I just try to push this thing into the world. I’ve never been the best designer, developer, marketer, photographer, and the list goes on. But just maybe I have enough drive and passion to bring ideas to fruition.

Fruition. Really? Is just now the first time since 2001 that I’ve realized that f-r-u-i-t are the first five letters of fruition? One definition reads, “the point at which a plan or project is realized.”

For most of this year I’ve been drawing on comparisons of my sunrise journal to the Daily Fruit project of old, from 2001 through 2015. Common in the way that it’s a daily ritual, something that must be accomplished. Perhaps it was all meant to be a daily fruition. Why is that important? I have an incredibly difficult time on focusing on tasks, but something so tangible as one simple goal in a day gives me a sense that one small project has been realized.

It’s the type of realization that I’ll likely never look back on Daily Fruit the same way. I’ve had lots of discussions this year about new years resolutions, and the only ones that would ever work for me are the ones that one very small and tangible task each and every day. That, on mornings like today, are tackled by bruteness, forcing myself from bed.

Daily bruteness.
